Fiberglass Insulation

Developed in 1938, as a source of insulation, fiberglass insulation quickly became the most preferred method for home insulation in the world. It works by trapping air in the pockets of its fibers and providing a thermal resistance to heat flow for the home. Fiberglass insulation can be found in either a Blanket or Loosefill form; and with increased attention to energy conservation, it has become more popular and recognized as the most significant improvement in creating an energy efficient home.

Fiberglass Blanket Insulation

Found as either a precut "Batt" or continuous "Roll", a blanket of insulation is flexible and available in various widths to fit the standard cavities of walls, attics, floors, and ceilings. Most recently, the industry has seen extraordinary developments – in many cases – creating a friendlier installation, providing a more eco-conscience binder, increasing recycled content to as much as 40%, and maximizing bio-based materials for added sustainability.

Fiberglass Loosefill Insulation

Often referred to as "Blown-In Insulation" - based on its method of install - Loosefill Insulation is a collection of loose fibers or nodules that are blown into the wall cavity or attic. It requires specific industry designed equipment that agitates, expands, and distributes the material to its desired depth. Some wall applications require an added fabric system to retain the material within the studs. Loosefill is most recognized for its ability to provide a continuous coverage, be flexible, and fit into tight or low crevices.
